Recipes From My Students

One of the teachers at school arranged for the students to create an engagement present for me (they also made one for my friend and colleague, Tricia). 

They created a recipe box. The students either found recipes online or used family recipes. A few of the students wrote recipes of desserts or dishes they have brought to school and I have enjoyed. It was extremely thoughtful and quite funny, as the students wrote fun little letters and "well wishes" on the back. Read below for a few tastes of the amusement and thoughtfulness. This will be something I keep for life. 

Jeff's first foster dog

Yesterday I got another foster dog from A Forever Home Rescue (you should check out their website: www.aforeverhome.org). Jeff has never fostered a dog before and was SUPER excited about it. 

A little about our new "bundle of joy:"

• She is a Newfoundland/Golden Retriever mix 
• She is 2 years old
• She was given up because her family didn't want to pay for surgery 
• She is 106 lbs!!!!!!!!!! 

So, she has been settling in well and loves playing with Jeff. Let's just say . . they entertain each other. Today Jeff is off with her throwing the tennis ball at the tennis courts. I am sure they will both be tuckered out when I come home later! 

So, why foster a dog? If there were no fosters, the dogs would either be "put down" or put in kennels. It is sad because the majority of dogs who are given up are sweet and have no control over the situation. . . 

This pup will have surgery later this week to fix an eye problem and then she will be ready for a new home (the surgery fixes the problem). 

I have a feeling . . . Jeff will miss her when she is gone :)

Been a while . . .

So, it has been about a YEAR since my last post. Wow. I am not sure where I should even begin. I guess I will just start from where I am now. I am engaged to my best friend and planning my dream wedding (loving the hiccups and all). I am finishing my master's in technology. Jeff and I are looking to buy a house (I can't wait to decorate it). I am still part of an amazing small group.

Simply put, life is great. Of course, there are everyday hiccups, but it is fun. I decided to start blogging again to keep one of my best friends, Cinnamon, up to date since she is now in Germany (tear). It will also be fun to keep up with Jeff this way and any of our friends that aren't close by.
